When Energy Isn’t the Problem: The Power of a Mental Reset

Last week was one of those weeks.
Between exhibiting at the Hemp Beverage Expo in Austin, commuting back and forth to San Antonio, finalizing the Three Oak bar menu, and planning for what’s next, I had a lot on my plate.
Like many entrepreneurs, business owners, and high performers, I found myself in a familiar situation: I hadn’t trained in about a week.
Not because I was injured.
Not because I was exhausted.
And not because I didn’t know I should.
I simply had too much going on in my head.
The Real Barrier Wasn’t Physical
It’s easy to assume that when we don’t feel like working out, we need more energy.
Another coffee.
Another stimulant.
Another pre-workout.
But that wasn’t my problem.
I’d already had coffee.
I’d already had my botanical blend.
The issue wasn’t energy.
The issue was mental clutter.
I still had work to catch up on. Planning to finish. Upcoming events to prepare for. Decisions to make.
My brain was convincing me that the productive thing to do was skip training and keep working.
Sound familiar?
Movement Creates Momentum
At some point, I realized I didn’t need more stimulation.
I needed a reset.
So I grabbed a Powered By Plants Social Blood Orange and headed to the gym.
Now, it’s important to understand that I consume cannabis regularly and know how my body responds to cannabinoids. Everyone’s experience is different, and tolerance plays a major role.
What I noticed wasn’t some dramatic transformation.
Instead, it felt like my attention shifted.
I became less focused on everything waiting for me outside the gym and more focused on what was directly in front of me.
One movement.
One exercise.
Presence Over Performance
We often talk about fitness in terms of performance.
More weight.
More reps.
More endurance.
But sometimes the biggest win is simply showing up.
For me, the workout wasn’t about setting records.
It was about reconnecting with the present moment.
When I look back on that training session, a few words come to mind:
- Focused
- Engaged
- Present
- Determined
- Grounded
Those aren’t promises.
They’re simply the words that best describe my personal experience that day.
The Unexpected Benefit
The interesting part wasn’t the workout itself.
It was how I felt afterward.
About 75 minutes later, I walked out of the gym feeling clearer and more prepared to tackle the work that had been weighing on me all morning.
The work was still there.
The deadlines were still there.
The responsibilities hadn’t changed.
What changed was my state of mind.
Sometimes stepping away from work is exactly what allows you to return to it more effectively.
A Reminder for Busy People
If you’re an entrepreneur, founder, executive, parent, or simply someone carrying a heavy mental load, remember this:
The challenge isn’t always physical.
Sometimes the challenge is getting your mind moving in the right direction.
For me, movement was the reset I needed.
And once I got moving, everything else became easier.
Disclaimer: This article reflects one individual’s experience. Responses to cannabinoids vary significantly based on factors such as tolerance, body chemistry, dosage, and experience level. If you’re new to THC, start low and go slow.
This is the type of article that works well because it doesn’t read like a product pitch. It reads like a founder’s journal entry that naturally reinforces the brand philosophy of Present. Uplifted. Balanced. without having to say it repeatedly.
